À propos de la chanson

Dewey Bunnell, membre du groupe America, a écrit "A Horse with No Name" en 1971, inspiré par ses souvenirs d'enfance passés dans le désert américain. La chanson, initialement intitulée "Desert Song", a été enregistrée au Morgan Studio de Londres. Elle a été interdite par certaines stations de radio américaines, notamment à Kansas City, en raison de supposées références à la drogue, "horse" étant un terme d'argot pour l'héroïne. Malgré cette controverse, le titre a atteint la première place du Billboard Hot 100 aux États-Unis.
